Biography

Dr. Krishnaswamy served as the Chief of Pathology Laboratories at Jaslok Hospital and Research Center in Mumbai, of which he was a founding faculty. A Borroughs - Welcome visiting Professor at Cornell University Medical College, New York Hospital, International Cancer union Fellow and Visiting Scientist to a number of leading Institutes, such as the Weizmann Institute, Israel, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm etc. He was a special invitee of the Nobel Committee for Physiology and Medicine to the Nobel Awards Ceremony in 1985. He has helped to plan and establish several healthcare institutions, and diagnostic centers such as Mallya Hospital, Manipal Hospital, Sagar and Kaveri hospitals, managing them in the private and not-for-profit sectors successfully. Dr. Krishnaswamy is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, graduated with D.Sc. in Biochemistry. He was the first to develop a simple clinical laboratory test at Jaslok Hospital for Glycated Hemoglobin measurement in Diabetes management. He had one of the first patents in India for recombinant insulin.
